Week 1
To start off the New Year, everyone does a new years resolution, right?
We didn't have too much happening this week. My grandparents and my brother from Utah visited us for New Years Eve and New Years. It was the first time any of my family was able to come up to Boise and see our house. Our evening on New Years Eve consisted of the Miami (FL) vs Ohio State football game, Stranger Things the final episode (it was a let down to say the least), and sleep. We were in bed 10:00pm and fast asleep lol.
The 2026 golf season is officially underway up here in Boise as well. I work out at TimberStone Golf Course in Caldwell. Yes, it is a little bit out in the middle of nowhere but this course will NOT disappoint you! Our greenskeeper, Ryan, and his staff do an amazing job of keeping the course in nearly perfect condition. There is absolutely no snow on the ground and other than 2 days in early in December we have been fully open. Even though it is slow this time of year it is perfect time to get everything ready and set up for the 2026 season. I set up our tee sheet for the whole year (so we dont get double booked tournaments or tee times on tournament days), I create graphics for all of our tournaments (these are used for social media, website, and around the clubhouse), some winter cleaning, ordering all the merchandise, and more.
Next up, Owyhee basketball! The first game of the 2026 season for the Storm was at Rocky Mountain High School in Meridian, ID. This was also my first event of the new year. The Storm rolled the Grizzlies 59-27. Was never even a contest. These games can be fun but challenging. You would think they are up by so much that you would have highlight clips all day. Although, there are some games like this that you just get highlight after highlight, but most of the time it is an ugly game. No defense, lots of layups and essentially boring shots. During this game there were plenty of highlights (no dunks unfortunately). Was able to be home around 9:00pm and get out 2 videos and a game score graphic for the night.
Sunday, was a pretty calm boring day. Working at a golf course in the winter has its ups and downs. I'm glad to still have a job during the slow and off season but it is very quiet and calls for long days. In the winter months we do, as we call it, "all dayers". We work from open to close. Right now I'm at the golf course from 8:30am until dark, which is usually around 5:00pm - 5:30pm. I got home and my beautiful fiancé had an amazing dinner ready for us. We had mediterranean bowl. Now to finish the night prepping some graphics for Owyhee basketball for next week.
Week 1 complete. Hope you come back for week 2.
