A lot of this week has consisted of the Southern Idaho Conference (SIC) JV and Varsity Tournaments for 6A. The JV tournament has been held at Rocky Mountain High School and the Varsity tournament has been held at Capital High School. Owyhee played Ridgevue in the Quarter-finals and dominated the whole game.
Wednesday, we finally got snow! We actually had to close down the course for the day. We probably had about 2 inches total of snow fall, but only about a half an inch stuck around the whole day. When I left around 5:30pm almost all of the snow was gone expect a very little was left on the greens. It was all melted off by Thursday morning. I then head to Rocky Mountain High School for the JV District Championship game
The game was back and forth the whole way. They ended up beating Capital by 5 in the championship game. I was able to capture a lot of highlights throughout the game but the best moments were in the locker room. The pure happiness, celebration, excitement from not only the players but the coaches as well. No better feeling than the feeling of success and winning after a long grueling season. The amount of hours, blood, sweat, tears, wins and losses throughout a season, no matter the sport, consumes you. Consumes your life. Your families lives. To see it all come down to holding that trophy and being crowned champions is a great feeling. Being able to capture those moments feel almost as amazing.
Thursday and Friday were filled with a lot of edits. Editing the whole gallery for the JV game, photos and videos. Made multiple graphics and got ready for all the games coming up. Owyhee basketball, Bishop Kelly Baseball, and multiple commitment graphics. I have currently made a lot of graphics that I hope to see the light of day.
I got to thinking about how many highlight clips, photos, and graphics that I have that probably no one will ever see. Should I make separate posts of all the extra clips I have that don't necessarily make the highlight reels?
Saturday, Owyhee won their Semi-Final game against Meridian. The revenge game was complete. Meridian was the only team in Conference and in Idaho to beat Owyhee. The Storm ended up winning 58-38 and advancing to the Championship game. The Championship Game is held at Idaho Central Credit Union Center (ICCU). It will be fun to shoot at a new arena but it will also help me a ton because I got hired to cover the Men's and Women's Big Sky Tournament held at the ICCU Center.
Calling all of my photographer and videographer friends! I make presets and save my custom luts but whenever I go to a new gym, stadium, arena, etc. I feel like I always end up getting a different look? I know that I will have to tweak and adjust settings but i feel like no matter what I do my photos always look different. I try to make sure my white balance is set nearly perfect in camera. I am also shooting in Kelvin. I just need help making my edits look constant from game to game or week to week.
Sunday was madness lol. Went in to TimberStone around 8:00am and got home around 7:30pm. We ended up with 117 players from 10:30am to 2:48pm. It doesn't seem like a lot of players but when we run out of range balls at 12:00pm it becomes madness. Luckily we had a few range balls in our performance center that I could get by before someone could come and pick range balls. Got through the rest of the night and the pace of play was averaging about 4 hours and 15 minutes. Which is pretty good for a one man show lol.
I was working by myself in the shop and sometimes it does get lonely, but when there are that many people coming in and out the day goes by pretty fast. The other nice thing is we do have a tv in the Pro Shop and I did get to watch the USA Hockey Team win the Gold in the Olympics. Turned on the Cavs vs Thunder game, you may be asking why that game? When I was shooting nearly every Utah State home game last year, Darius Brown was the point guard on the team. It just signed a 2 way contract and he has been traveling with the Cavs. The first game he got to travel was against the hornets and now against the Thunder. He hasn't gotten any minutes yet, but he will soon. Once given the opportunity the team wont regret it.
Busy season is right around the corner and I have a feeling this year is going to be more hectic than ever.
